I know a lot of your friends have Snapchat, and I understand why it seems fun. However, as your parent, my biggest concern is your safety. Snapchat makes messages and pictures disappear, which can make people feel like they can say or do things they normally wouldn’t. Strangers can also try to connect with you, and it’s hard to know if they’re really who they say they are. They may pretend to be friendly, but they could be dangerous or have bad intentions if you don’t know them in real life.
Also, nothing online ever truly goes away—people can screenshot or save things without you knowing, and that becomes part of your digital footprint. That means something you share now could still affect you in the future. Right now, it’s important to stay safe online and use apps that are better suited for your age. When you're older and better prepared, we can talk about it again.
