POPJAM
MINIMUM AGE: 7+

WHAT IS IT?
PopJam is a creative app and website where you can create and share art and watch videos.

WHAT WE SAY:
Safe.

For those aged 7+, but discuss safety tips. with children.
  • PopJam has been certified COPPA-Compliant by KidSAFE.
  • This means that their platform has been reviewed to meet the highest standards of digital privacy and safety.
  • Despite the issue of other users leaving malicious comments on videos and images, the app is relatively safe.
  • The app has recently added a new  'CHAT' feature. This lets users start conversations with others inside their groups. Users can start their own chat, or just have a look at what other PopJammers are chatting about and join in.
SAFETY TIPS TO CONSIDER:
  • New 'CHAT' feature means that children and young people need to be mindful of what information they share. Discuss the importance of not sharing personal information online.
  • Talk to children about friends and that they should only engage with friends from the 'real-world', that parents and carers know of.
  • Cyber-bullying could take place as malicious comments are made - ask children to tell you if anything goes wrong.
  • Make sure your child knows how to report posts by pressing the arrow icon in top right of the post then pressing the (!) report post.
  • This flags the post for moderators to look at.
  • Have open discussions with children about the topics associated with online use - bullying, grooming,  exploitation, body image, as well as accessing support and how to report.
