LiveME Pro

Picture
LiveME Pro
MINIMUM AGE: 17+ (Under 18's need parents permission to download the app and ‘those under 18 should have their parents’ permission to download and use the app’).

WHAT IS IT?
LiveMe Pro is a live broadcasting app giving creators a platform to reach a wide audience and share their talents directly with their 'fans'.

WHAT WE SAY:
Avoid.
  • LiveMe Pro is a live streaming app which allows users to be tricked, dared and manipulated in to inappropriate things.
  • Users have reported inappropriate content such as sex, violence, self-harm, suicide, drugs and crime.
#Go Live
  • Users can live stream and receive gifts.
  • 'Gifts' can make the streamer feel valued - known as affirmation online, giving a sense of immediate gratification. This is can then be used a way of grooming children or young people online.
#LIVE PK
  • Broadcasters who get more attraction points will win the PK while losers have to receive punishments.
#Watch Live Streams
  • Users can broadcast through live streams and live videos.
  • Create multi-guest rooms with up to 9 people.
  • Use filters or stickers while video chatting.
  • This offers users a way of disguising their identity which poses a huge risk to children and young people.
#Voice Chat Room
  • A huge red flag - "Live talk to pretty girls or handsome boys from nearby or all over the world" (Play store).
  • "BOOST" in multi-beam to quickly make new friends is a new feature!
  • This app is marketed at children and encourages them to speak to nearby users and strangers.
#Live Game Streaming
  • Watch other players stream their games.
#Connect With Friends
  • Invite friends from other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to watch live and share "spontaneous moments with them!"
# Create Groups
  • Users can create groups to interact with people who have shared interests.
SAFETY TIPS TO CONSIDER:
  • Live streaming could potentially reveal location - personal information could be shared. Have discussions about the risks associated with sharing personal information online.
  • You can also directly report inappropriate, offensive, and harmful content from inside the app using the 'Report' function.
  • Reporting content with this mechanism will flag it for the human moderators.
  • LiveMe Pro have created a 'Parents Guide' to learn more about keeping children and young people safe.
  • Live videos can receive responses which can mean that inappropriate content can be sent - ask children and young people to tell you if anything goes wrong.
  • Also make sure they use their device in a room whereby adults at home are present.
  • Have open discussions with children and young people about the topics associated with online use - bullying, grooming, sexual and criminal exploitation, body image, as well as accessing support and how to report.
