NO MERCY

PEGI RATING: 16+

WHAT IS IT?
The game No Mercy was recently removed from Steam following widespread backlash over its explicit and disturbing content. No Mercy is a deeply harmful piece of content that posed serious risks to young users across emotional, psychological, and social levels.

WHAT WE SAY:
Avoid.

Game concerns:
It is a 3D visual novel that depicted extreme sexual violence, including rape and incest, without any age restrictions. Players assumed the role of a character who abuses women, including his own mother, with in-game prompts encouraging players to “never take no for an answer” .

🔞Exposure to Inappropriate Content
No Mercy was described as a "rape simulator" with graphic sexual violence, including incest and abuse. The game encouraged players to ignore consent with lines like “never take no for an answer.” It was initially available on Steam without age verification or any meaningful restrictions — meaning even minors could access it.

🔐 Privacy Concerns
While the game itself didn’t appear to involve direct data collection, Steam jhowever allows users to create profiles, share content, and add friends. Children playing or exploring this kind of content might be exposed to inappropriate community discussions or unsolicited contact from strangers.

📱 Cyberbullying and Harassment
No Mercy also contributes to a culture of cyberbullying and harassment, especially in the way it normalised violent, degrading behaviour toward women. Games that reward abuse can influence players to replicate those attitudes online, potentially encouraging toxic behavior in multiplayer games, forums, or social media.

🧑‍💻 Online Predators
Most disturbingly, the game creates a concerning environment for online predators. By glorifying sexual violence and incest, No Mercy normalises behaviors that predators often use in grooming tactics. In the wrong hands, it could become a tool to desensitise or manipulate children.

🧠 Addiction & Mental Health
The game rewards players for performing disturbing actions, reinforcing violent thinking. Exposure to such material can have long-term psychological impacts, desensitising individuals to real-world abuse and blurring their understanding of consent and empathy.

🛡️SAFETY TIPS:

Just No!
No Mercy is not just an unsafe game but one that glorifies sexual violence and abuse. Our top safety tip is simple: This game should not be accessed or played at all, especially by children or teens.

📲Understand the game
Familiarise yourself with the games features and how they work. Knowing how the app works will help you guide your child effectively.

👨‍👧Parental supervision
Check their interactions and adjust privacy settings accordingly. Ensure you take advantage of Roblox's parental controls, which offer valuable features to help manage your child's gaming experience.

💸Limit In-App Purchases
Set spending limits or disable in-app purchases on your device to avoid accidental or excessive spending.

🚨Avoid Unofficial Downloads
Stick to downloading the game from official sources (like the App Store or Google Play) to avoid malware, data breaches, or compromised versions.

📢Underage Accounts
This game might have an age restriction but it lacks a proper age verification process. Therefore, there’s little stopping users from faking their dates of birth or creating bogus profiles and targeting children and young people.

👥Manage friend requests
Teach your child only to accept friend requests from people they know in real life.

📷 Cover the Webcam When Not in Use
Physically cover your camera when you're not ready to go live. Always be mindful of what’s visible in your background—it can reveal location clues.

🧠 Trust Your Instincts
If something feels uncomfortable, it is uncomfortable. Leave the chat immediately and don’t engage with users who seem suspicious, aggressive, or inappropriate.

🖥️ Place Devices in Shared Spaces
Keep internet-connected devices in living rooms or kitchens, not bedrooms. This makes risky behaviour less likely and easier to notice.

🙋‍♀️Conversations:
Have open discussions with children and young people about the topics associated with online use - bullying, grooming, sexual and criminal exploitation, body image, as well as accessing support and how to report.

🚨 Know the Signs of Trouble
Watch for behaviour changes—like anxiety, secrecy, mood swings, or suddenly deleting apps. These can signal something inappropriate happened online.
