COIN MASTER

COIN MASTER
MINIMUM AGE: 12+

WHAT IS IT?
Play with millions of people around the world in attacks, spins and raids to build a Viking village. This is a fast growing interactive Facebook community. Players spin slot machines to win coins, shields and weapons so that they can attack and raid villages and build their Viking village.

WHAT WE SAY:
Treat with caution .
  • This game welcomes the concept of gambling to children and young people. This is done through slot machines and 'wheel of fortune' style gambling.
  • 'Spin to earn your loot'. Players must spin a wheel to win attacks, time, loot, shields or raids. Players win their loot by landing on coins or gold sacks so they can build a strong village and move through levels on the game.
  • Earning coins through the slot machine, isn't the only way to get loot, players can steel it too!
  • Be mindful of purchases that can be made by the user by ensuring parental controls are installed on their device.
  • Families should also discuss the dangers of playing ‘online’ and being able to talk to strangers. This is particularly important in this game as players can trade their cards with their online community.
SAFETY TIPS TO CONSIDER:
  • Users who play online can talk with other people, potentially being exposed to inappropriate comments.
  • There are in-game purchases using real money ('Loot boxes').
  • Advertising is one of the biggest influences over children and young people gambling. Make sure you discuss with children and young people the dangers of gambling - including financial and mental health risks.
  • Make sure that children and young people always use their device in a room whereby adults are present.
  • Discuss 'friends' - there is no such thing as an 'internet friend'. Encourage children and young people to only engage with other users whom adults know in the 'real-world', and that they know and trust.
  • Use protection settings, such as time limitations, or only allow social media usage with parental guidance.
  • Outline clear rules for your children. Pay attention to their development. As they get older, they should generally be given more freedom.
  • Communication will also become more important as children get older. Explain that you are not trying to control them but want to agree upon a set of ground rules.
  • Try to stay up-to-date on Internet trends and best practices.
  • Talk to your children about the risks of disclosing personal data.
  • Have open discussions with children and young people about the topics associated with online use - bullying, grooming, sexual and criminal exploitation, body image, as well as accessing support and how to report.
